About GMCI Base Select

The “GMCI Base Select Ecosystem Index” tracks the top native crypto protocols built on Base. This index highlights the diversity and innovation of blockchain applications leveraging Base’s interoperable and scalable framework. This includes a range of projects spanning decentralized finance (DeFi), memecoins, and artificial intelligence agents, all united under the Base umbrella.

The GMCI Base Ecosystem Index serves as a benchmark for the growth and adoption of Base’s ecosystem, also compared to other Layer-2 solutions, offering investors and enthusiasts a comprehensive view of the ecosystem’s performance and development.

GMCI Base Select RECENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Inclusion of three additional custodians to determine asset eligibility

Starting from the upcoming rebalancing, GMCI will consider three additional custodians to determine an asset's eligibility for the GMCI asset universe. In addition to existing custodians Bitgo, Coinbase Custody, and Gemini Custody, GMCI will also consider assets supported by Zodia Custody, Anchorage Digital, and Copper. This change applies to all GMCI indices.

GMCI Base Select Ecosystem Index Launch

The GMCI Base Select Ecosystem index officially launches at 3:00 PM UTC on Monday, May 19.

Update of General Index Methodology

GMCI has added clarifying language and concrete examples to its General Index Methodology document. There have been no changes to the index creation or maintenance process itself. For more information, please refer to the new index methodology.

Rebalancing reference time moved to 10:00 am UTC

From the upcoming reference date (November 22, 2024), the reference time will be moved from 4:30 pm UTC to 10:00 am UTC for all GMCI indices. This will ensure a smoother procedure, where the aim is to always distribute the new index constituents and weights on the reference date itself.
