Adventure Gold DAO launches new Layer 2 for onchain gaming

The Adventure Gold decentralized autonomous organization has announced the launch of Adventure Layer — a Layer 2 solution intended to be optimized for fully onchain games.

Adventure Layer will be governed by Adventure Gold DAO's Loot NFT ecosystem token, which carries the ticker AGLD on centralized exchanges Coinbase and Binance.

According to a press release, Adventure Layer implements a sharding architecture that enables games to run onchain while removing the need for centralized servers. Each game is meant to be able to run on its shard — something similar to what occurs with Layer 3s — providing compatibility without the need to share processing power or hamstring throughput.

Regarding compatibility, the project claims that there will be seamless composability on the Layer 2 network for games built on it despite independent game shards.

The release also claims that parallel execution with an entity-component system will deliver high performance and throughput, "even for demanding gaming applications."

"Adventure Layer is poised to revolutionize the gaming industry by offering a platform that empowers developers to create unprecedented, player-owned gaming experiences," the team claims, adding: "With its focus on scalability, performance and developer tools, Adventure Layer is setting the stage for a new era of fully onchain games."
