Democratic elites, crypto industry leaders to hold virtual roundtable Monday: Politico

Quick Take
- White House officials and elite democratic operatives will attend a virtual roundtable with crypto industry executives discussing digital asset policy on Monday, according to a report from Politico Pro.
- VP Harris campaign officials have reportedly been invited to the meeting, which is being organized by California Democratic representative Ro Khanna.
- Anita Dunn plans to appear, an outgoing White House senior adviser who will soon advise a $300 million super PAC for Harris and who also attended the July roundtable.
White House officials and crypto industry executives are planning to attend a virtual roundtable on Monday discussing digital asset policy held by pro-crypto Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), according to a recent report.
The meeting appears to be a follow-up to Rep. Khanna's July roundtable, an in-person meeting on the same subject also attended by billionaire Mark Cuban and New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, among others. This time, White House officials including National Economic Council director Lael Brainard, White House deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed, and outgoing senior adviser Anita Dunn plan to attend the virtual meeting, according to Politico Pro.
Dunn recently became the first of Biden's tight inner circle to announce her departure from the administration, Politico also reported recently. Dunn will instead advise the largest pro-Harris super PAC, which plans to spend hundreds of millions of dollars supporting Harris's campaign between now and November.
Dunn had attended the July meeting in a personal capacity and impressed industry leaders with her engagement. "She was very engaged, actively notetaking, all of that kind of stuff," Crypto Council for Innovation CEO Sheila Warren told The Block at the time. "For a government official at that level to be that engaged for over an hour … that is pretty amazing and unusual." Dunn herself had reportedly described the meeting as "good and blunt."
The report notes that Harris campaign officials are invited, but it is unclear whether or not the campaign will send a representative. The report also notes that no lawmakers other than Khanna, such as Gillibrand, are expected to attend this time.
