Japan's National Police Agency reported 158 incidents of crypto-related thefts in the first half of 2018, triple the figure for the same period in 2017. More than 60% of these cases involve individuals that used the same ID and password for their Internet accounts. In total, hackers stole over $540M in cryptocurrency from Japanese exchanges and individuals. The most targeted coins were bitcoin and XRP. (Source: The Asahi Shimbun)
