Bitcoin's weekly trading volume reached $46 Billion while Ethereum reached $18.5 Billion in the week of December 17 to December 23. The last time weekly trading volume was higher was in early May. Total Bitcoin volume for 2018 surpassed $2 Trillion in late November and is expected to reach $2.2 Trillion by the year-end. It grew by 153% compared to 2017 when the total Bitcoin volume was approximately $870 billion.

Ethereum was the second most traded cryptocurrency with about 37% of Bitcoin's volume; more than $800 million in 2018. As can be seen from the graph, the volumes of both Bitcoin and Ethereum are still very correlated.
