Coinbase Wallet now allows users to send crypto using ‘.eth’ addresses
Coinbase Wallet has added two new functionalities to its app that allow users to send crypto using short human-friendly addresses instead of traditional long addresses.
Firstly, the app has integrated the Ethereum Name Service, which allows users to send crypto to “.eth” addresses. Secondly, the app now also allows users to send funds to people using their usernames that begin with an @ symbol.
“We believe these improvements will make cryptocurrency much easier to use… Users can now easily send money to friends and business partners like they do with traditional payment apps, albeit globally and in crypto,” said Sid Coelho-Prabhu, product lead for Coinbase Wallet and Coinbase Commerce.
The username feature also lets users to keep their names private, using the settings menu in the Wallet app.
Coinbase Wallet is a user-controlled crypto wallet and currently supports various coins, including bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH) and XRP, as well as ethereum-based ERC20 stablecoins such as DAI and USDC.
Last year, Coinbase Wallet launched an integration between the main Coinbase app and the Wallet app for easier transfer of funds to Wallet. Now, the Wallet app also allows sending that crypto back to the Coinbase app for storage, trading, or cashing out a bank account.
