Civic, the decentralized identity startup, announced that it hired Apple veteran Phillip Shoemaker as executive director of Identity.com. Civic acquired Identity.com in July of this year to build out its decentralized identity verification ecosystem. Shoemaker will oversee the development and growth of the decentralized identity ecosystem, according to Civic. At Apple, Shoemaker worked as a senior director for App Store Review division, growing his team from 4 to over 300 employees. “Phillip’s knowledge of blockchain and expertise building internal infrastructure will guide Identity.com through a key time of deployment and growth. We’re happy to see him take on the task of building and leading the Identity.com team," said Jonathan Smith, Civic Co-founder and CTO.
